Three Months

Lyla turned 3 months old about a week ago. Some big things happened in her third month of life.

  • She took her first plane ride and got to meet her Grandpa Funk, Aunt Jamie, Aunt Julie, Uncle Greg, and cousins Bryson, Eliza, Emme, Olivia, Grant, Audrey, Trevor, and Carson (more on that trip later).
  • Got to meet Great Grandma Gyllenskog when she came through town on her way back to Logan.

  • Got diagnosed with the dreaded RSV :(. This was a little scary of course, but not as bad as it could have been. She had to have some breathing treatments where they stuck tubes up her nose and pumped out all the excess mucus. yum! She hated it of course, but really seemed to help her feel better and kept her out of the hospital, so we can't complain! The hardest part has been the residual fussiness, left over as a result of bad habits learned while being sick. She gets a little more back to her normal self every day though.
  • Discovered that she loves to suck on her hand, and kick the dangly toys on her play mat with her feet.

  • Baby Owen was born, and he and Lyla had their first cousin meeting.

  • Unfortunately is finally starting to get a bald spot, and is showing signs of losing a bit of her hair on the sides.

  • She's still a smiley girl, but has a harder time flashing her grins for the camera.

Baby Blessing

This sweet girl was given a name and a blessing by her daddy in church yesterday, February 3, 2013.

She was perfectly calm during the whole thing which was what we were praying for! I told her that she just had to be good for the blessing, and then she could melt down after. She took my council very literally!

It was a very special and emotional occasion to have our first child blessed. It is something I have looked forward to ever since we were married, and it is crazy to think the day finally came, and that we have reached this point in our lives. We love this sweet girl more every day and can't imagine our lives without her.

Our family on blessing day

After her blessing, we had family over to the house for enchiladas, black bean salsa, corn casserole, and delicious desserts. It was so great to have so much support, and I just wish that I had taken a picture of everyone who came!
