six months

I can't believe my baby is six months old! Honestly, where does the time go? She just gets cuter, more fun, and her little personality comes out every day. I loved her when she was born, but now I feel like I know her so much better, and just can't imagine my life without her. She is such an important part of our family and I am so grateful for our little girl.

Lyla cut two teeth this month. She wasn't even fussy about it. About a week before she cut them, I noticed that her gums were raised in the front and back like there might be some teeth there. Then a week later I could see feel the sharp little edges had broken through. She was a total champ about the whole thing.

Lyla opens and closes her little hand over everything. I think this is her trying to feel textures and things. She rapidly spreads her fingers out and touches her palm to the surface.

Kicks her little legs all the time. In her car seat, in her crib, she is always pumping them up and down whether she's on her back or her tummy.

Discovered the exersaucer this month, which has been especially awesome for me :)
Lyla says "rock on" to playing in her exersaucer

Started solids a week ago. She is still figuring out how to actually eat, but she really seems to enjoy chewing on the spoon and spitting the oatmeal cereal out of her mouth.

Always breaks her left arm out of her swaddle. She can tolerate having the right arm wrapped for a bit, but the left arm must come out immediately or she is not happy.

Lyla is such a joy to have around. I love being her mom. I love watching her grow. I can't imagine my life without my little sweetheart.

Jazz vs. Nuggets

While parents were in town, we happened to get lower bowl tickets to a jazz game. It was perfect timing because my parents could watch lyla (and American idol after she went to bed) and I was pretty excited about the prospect of a date with my husband. Until I realized the catch of the really good seats was that Todd's fed ex rep from work would be joining us. How romantic. Despite a little sulking on my part, It actually ended up being really fun, and I've since decided that this is the only way to do a jazz game. Here's hoping we get offered the tickets again next year!
